An additional fully equipped helicopter will be launched by Haiti Air Ambulance (HAA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit company that offers the only medical service based in Haiti, to provide emergency medical care to expectant moms, new mothers, and infants.
All 11.5 million residents of Haiti have had access to affordable healthcare through HAA for almost ten years.
Mothers and newborns have made up up to 40% of HAA patients over the years since pregnant women in Haiti have little to no access to prenatal care.
The HAA team, it should be noted, not only stabilizes patients on the way to the hospital, but also makes sure that the hospital they are going to gives the finest care for the patients they are caring for.
If the patient is unable to attend, the HAA team will even make financial arrangements to cover the cost of the treatment.
