On a major radio station, Foreign Minister Dominique Dupuy reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to pursuing reforms within Haitian diplomacy. The Chancellor claims that the principle of rotation must be immediately reinstated in Haitian diplomacy since it is a fundamental component of international diplomacy and serves to resurrect the diplomatic corps.
With the approval of Prime Minister Conille, approximately 80 diplomats and members of diplomatic representations were recalled in order to achieve this goal. It was stated that the recalls should not be construed as a revocation, adding that “The recall allows evaluate, inventory, reallocate and make resources available to central services.”
She says that her strategy seeks to revive Haitian diplomacy, which is an extremely expensive field, in order to encourage investment in the country. Furthermore, Ms. Dupuy stated that the goal of this reform is to establish a certain equilibrium between diplomacy and the nation’s resources.
In addition, Dominique Dupuy discussed the disparity between men and women in Haitian diplomacy. She calls attention to this startling inequality, noting that many of these women—many of whom have been in diplomacy for over fourteen years—do not receive promotions.
For this reason, thirty-three women were promoted to Head of Post. Going forward, women will lead half of Haiti’s missions globally.
