In a ceremony on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, the United Nations Children’s Fund-Haiti presented a fleet of 30 motorcycles to the Educational Community Police (EduPol) in the presence of Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of National Education, Me Paul Eronce Vilard, the Acting Minister of Justice and Public Security, Bruno Maes, the UNICEF representative in Haiti, Inspector General Alain Auguste, the Central Director of the Administrative Police and his assistant, Divisional Commissioner Ernst Dorfeuille.
The Minister of Manigat thanked UNICEF for providing this rolling equipment to this unit of the National Police of Haiti, which urgently needs to deploy in other municipalities of the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area (Carrefour, Croix-des-Bouquets), as well as in other departments (Nord and Artibonite), where children are requesting the support of local police, stressing that “The 4 million Haitian students need a calm environment to learning is effective. A calm environment is required for the 200,000 teachers to practice their vocation with dignity.
