William Ruto, the President of Kenya, stated in a special interview with the BBC that the men of the Mission in Haiti should be sent to Haiti in three weeks to help the Haitian police forces combat armed gangs.
In order to establish arrangements before Kenyan troops were deployed, Ruto announced that a high-level planning team had already arrived in Haiti and had spoken with police. The Kenyan forces will be able to deploy once everything is in place for the mission to begin. That will give us an idea of how things are on the ground, the capabilities that are available, and the infrastructure that has been built up.
