Engagés pour le Développement (EDE), a political party, called on the populace to take part in a three-day nationwide mobilization through a press conference on Thursday, February 1, 2024. The mobilization will start on February 5, 2024, with a demonstration in front of the prime minister in Port-au-Prince, with the goal of forcing the Ariel Henry government to resign by February 7, 2024.

The EDE strategic council president gives a pessimistic assessment of the past thirty months of Haitian governance in his speech. He accuses the ruling team of being blatantly negligent and idle in the face of crimes committed by armed bandits against law-abiding residents, and of doing nothing to stop the vicious spiral that is gradually destroying the Haitian people.

Dr. Claude Joseph confirms that the newly formed Rezistans Demokratik (RED) platform, which unites several political parties such as EDE, the January 30 coalition, and MOPOD, will be tasked with formulating the new governance in regards to the handling of power following the departure of PM Ariel Henry.

Claude Joseph charges Prime Minister Ariel Henry of using justice to oppress the opposition in relation to the Jovenel Moïse assassination case. He sees this warrant against him as a diversion from his true intentions. He claims that in order to deflect criticism of his resignation, the Prime Minister is exploiting the legal system.

In a January 30, 2024 press release signed by Sterline Civil, the EDE party denounced a heinous exploitation of the President Moïse file. It stated that the President of its Strategic Council, who is unflappable, will not be intimidated by these political-judicial attacks. It also invited the President to continue his fight for justice to prevail in the case pertaining to President Moïse’s assassination and for the building of a Haiti appropriate for its size.
