In order to support Haitian security forces in defending vital infrastructure and civilians from coordinated and targeted gang attacks, resident Joe Biden has approved an emergency assistance package.
The Department of Homeland Security’s excess stock may be used to fund a $10 million U.S. assistance package that might include bulletproof jackets, helmets, firearms, and ammo.
Karine Jean-Pierre, press secretary for the White House, made this announcement.
“Our support is intended to help Haitians restore security, order, and the rule of law and protect civilians, while at the same time remaining committed to supporting Haitian-led effort for a peaceful transition of power,” she told the press.
