According to the information available, the Prime Minister plans to push for targeted support for the Haitian National Police (PNH), especially in the realms of ongoing training and specialized equipment. He will be joined on this strategic mission by the Secretary of State for Public Security, Mario Andrésol, who has remained quiet in the media and inactive on the ground. Former DCPJ Director Frédéric Leconte is also included in the delegation. “The delegation will address security matters following very productive discussions with the U.S. Senate delegation that visited Port-au-Prince. They are eager to assist us and want to ensure that we truly require what we are asking for,” a source close to the Prime Minister informed Le Nouvelliste. This visit marks a continuation of a dialogue that commenced in late June in Port-au-Prince, when key members of the U.S. Senate came to Haiti to evaluate the security landscape. The Haitian authorities are now looking to advance these discussions in a concrete manner.
