Grand’Anse, July 20, 2025 – According to the protest note made public this Sunday, July 20, a uniformed police officer was slapped inside the bank by a civilian bailiff while carrying out her duties. SYNAPOHA commends the officers present for their swift response, which led to the immediate arrest of the alleged assailant, in accordance with legal requirements.
However, the union denounces the direct intervention of the Government Commissioner, who allegedly ordered the bailiff's release, thus preventing the proper continuation of the legal proceedings. This action, SYNAPOHA describes as a "serious attack on the law, the police institution, and the dignity of officers."
Worse still, the assaulted police officer was allegedly summoned by the judicial authorities, as if she were at fault in the matter, the union deplores. This situation is considered unacceptable and symptomatic, according to its representatives, of a system that trivializes the rights of police officers.
